NETLAKE STSM 2013 to Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, Germany
Rosana Aguilera Becker, Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), Girona (ES), visited Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB), Berlin (DE), to work with NETLAKE members Rita Adrian (MC member for Germany) and David Livingstone (MC member for Switzerland). Lakes are recognised as sentinels of climate change. The study of coherent responses at regional scales in lakes is already a classical topic in lake science, and the availability of new sensor technologies helped to define new challenges that must be addressed with appropriate mathematical tools. Rosana’s work investigated associations or common trends among the water temperatures of river and lake systems using data from German, Swiss and Mediterranean sites. This work contributes to state-of-the art time series analysis which is central to NETLAKE Working Group 2 activities.
