NETLAKE STSM 2013 to Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), Spain

In this collaborative STSM project between EAWAG (CH) and ICRA (ES), a newly developed, high-frequency sampling method for the analysis of dissolved gases in aquatic systems was applied in a dammed river and a reservoir located in Spain to survey gas-transfer processes in aquatic systems that are characterized by strong methane production. High-frequency sampling of dissolved N2, O2, CO2, CH4 and noble gases in aquatic systems provides a unique data set suitable for addressing both spatial and temporal variability, and biological and physical processes.
