Children in the Library Policy

Read our policy and guidelines for children's access to De Chastelain Library, DkIT

COVID-19 Library Update:

The Institute’s campus is currently closed. We are therefore not in a position to offer access to external members or members of the public.

DkIT has a Child Protection Policy, which can be viewed online. Institute Buildings are not designed for children under 16. Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Access to high-risk areas is by prior arrangement only.

Children are not allowed to use the PCs, Wi-Fi or other library services. Adult supervisors are expected to care for, supervise, and ensure that the behaviour of children is appropriate. Children cannot be allowed to walk around the Library or the Institute without an adult supervisor.

If you bring children into the Library please supervise them at all times and ensure that they are not left alone. Parents of unsupervised children will not be allowed to use the Library and will have access rights withdrawn.

These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of children. For further information see DkIT's Child Protection Policy.
