DkIT has a long and successful track-record of collaborating with businesses to translate our research into commercial and societal impact delivered through our Academic Schools and Research Centres. Since our inception in 1989 we have been involved in a wide variety of collaborative research projects with industry, community organisations and different agencies from across the North East and beyond whom consider engagement with DKIT as a trusted part of their strategic plans.

Funding Collaborative Research

There are several state and European programmes in place to support Industry and College collaborations. The RDC has been very successful in assisting SMEs to receive funding supports. Funding for research collaboration include: 

DkIT Collaborative Research - Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers

Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers:

Developed to build links between Ireland's public knowledge providers (i.e. higher education institutes, public research bodies) and small businesses on an all-island basis. Vouchers available include:

  • Standard Voucher: worth €5,000 available to assist a company explore a business opportunity or problem with a registered knowledge provider such as DkIT.
  • Co-funded Fast Track Application: The value of the voucher is €10,000 and the company contributes 50% of the project costs in cash.
DkIT Collaborative Research - Innovation Partnerships

Innovation Partnerships:

An initiative aimed at helping your company access the latest skills and expertise from research institutes throughout Ireland providing up to 80% of the cost of research work to develop new and improved products, processes or services, or generate new knowledge and know-how. 

DkIT Collaborative Research - Fusion Programme

Fusion Programme:

Supported by Intertrade Ireland this programmes supports NI based companies to work with RoI-based Further Education and Higher Education institutes. 12 or 18 month-long projects provide support by helping to fund a high calibre science, engineering or technology graduate and partnering the company with a third level institution with specific expertise.

DkIT Collaborative Research -  InvestNI – Innovation vouchers

InvestNI – Innovation vouchers:

This is a similar Innovation voucher scheme as offered by Enterprise Ireland, vouchers may be utilised on an all-island basis i.e. DkIT can deliver the body of work for a Northern Ireland based company with an InvestNI Innovation Voucher
