Course Overview

Students will delve into topics such as content creation, social media, strategy, and communications. Lectures create the opportunity to apply academic learning to contemporary workplace situations and challenges, with a focus on addressing realworld organisational problems through innovative and insightful solutions.

Students will be faced with challenges designed to unlock their potential while learning in a truly supportive environment. Students also have the option to experience another culture with a semester studying abroad.

Understanding the Industry

Digital marketing and communications have become the central focus for entrepreneurs, enterprises and organisation seeking to reach and engage with their consumer. Digital marketing encompasses a broad range of tactics, such as search engine optimization, social media marketing, email marketing, content creation, and online advertising. It involves utilising various online platforms and channels to build brand awareness, drive traffic, generate leads, and convert them into customers.

Strategic communications focus on crafting and delivering compelling messages to key stakeholders, both internally and externally, with the aim of achieving organisational goals. Together, digital marketing and strategic communications form a powerful synergy that enables businesses and organisations to effectively communicate with and build meaningful relationships with their target audience.

Work Placement

In 3rd year students have the opportunity to Study Abroad or to be placed in an organisation on a 12-week industry work placement.

This gives students a much broader experience for both their soft skills and technical skills. They can also gain contacts in industry to help them in their future career. If you travel abroad you can significantly improve your language skills and immerse yourself in another culture.

Education Progression

Graduates may progress to the BA (Hons) in Public Relations OR the BA (Hons) in Global Marketing, dependent on the successful completion of this Level 7 award (or equivalent) with an award GPA of at least 50%.

Graduates may also progress to Year 4 of the BA (Hons) in Digital Marketing and Strategic Communication.
