Explanation of Results

An explanation of all the possible Academic Standings you may receive. When you receive your online results, these are provisional. Your official Transcript of Results will be posted to you.

In June 2014 the Academic Council adopted some changes to the rules that determine “Pass by Compensation”. Since September 2014, pass by compensation will only apply in respect of a complete academic stage (year) and not on a semester-by-semester basis. Therefore you will not see the ‘Pass by Compensation’ code appearing on your online results after the first semester. Furthermore, Pass by Compensation will now be linked to the number of credits assigned to modules, rather than on un-weighted marks. These rules are set down in DkIT’s Marks and Standards, available at the following linkhttps://www.dkit.ie/registrar/policies/marks-standards .

You cannot Pass by Compensation in a repeat subject.

If you are in any doubt, please ensure you attend your Consultation or contact either your Department Office or the Examinations Office.

Your official Transcript of Results will detail exactly what subjects you must resit.
