Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) welcomes you to the annual Peter Rice Medal and Niamh Shaw Award on Thursday 5th December 2024.
The Peter Rice medal is awarded each year to the best Level 8 Engineering student project at DkIT and is an opportunity for the students to showcase their project work, with student posters and projects on display during the event. The medal honours the renowned Dundalk-born engineer, Peter Rice who worked for Ove Arup on major global projects such as the Centre Pompidou, Lloyd’s of London, the Louvre Pyramid and Sydney Opera House.
The Dr Niamh Shaw Award is presented each year to the best Level 7 Engineering student project at DkIT. Dr. Niamh Shaw is a respected science communicator and explorer. She is from Dundalk and has devoted her life to exploring Earth from the ground and from space. Experiencing life in the extremes she has travelled all 7 continents to gather and share human stories of space and science education, reporting on science assignments from the remotest parts of the world to lead the change for a healthier and more sustainable planet.
