About the DkIT Programme
The four-day programme is open to all Transition Year students who would like to experience a broad range of engineering activities at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT). Sessions in Civil, Electronics and Mechanical engineering will expose the participant to a team-based environment with an emphasis on interactive learning.
Students will receive an initial induction and icebreaker sessions for a half day. Over the following three days, the programme will provide the student with an exposure to mechanical, civil and electronics engineering activities in a group environment. Activities will include 3D printing, mechanical build and programming of a robot arm kit and a bridge building/surveying exercise. The importance of teamwork, design and sustainability to each discipline will also feature. The programme will finish with a feedback session and reflection on the week's achievements.
Fees for this 4-day experience will be €30. Students attending a DEIS school will not be charged a fee.
