Access for Members of the Public

During term time students have priority to the library space and resources. Adult members of the public are welcome to visit the Library at off-peak times, after 5 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and any time during the summer. Our opening hours calendar  is available to be viewed online.  During these time you can study in the Library, consult books and materials on site.  Members of the public 18 years and over can get Wi-Fi and PC/internet access.

If you are visiting the Library you may be asked for ID and proof of age.  DkIT has a Child Protection Policy in place, which can be viewed online. Institute Buildings are not designed for children under 16. Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Access to high-risk areas is by prior arrangement only. If you bring children into the Library please supervise them at all times and ensure that they are not left alone. Visit our section on Children in the Library for further information.

If you have a disability and need additional services or support please contact the Librarian to make arrangements.

We also offer membership to those aged 18 years and over. Members can borrow 8 items at any time, including CDs and DVDs, excluding short loan and 4 day loan items.
