Information on how to make an Interlibrary Loan Request from De Chastelain Library.
Our Interlibrary loan service is currently paused, processing of requests will resume on Monday April 8th. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The Interlibrary loan (ILL) service offers access to material you may occasionally need, not available through the Library or freely on line. If this material is available within the Republic of Ireland, we will try to borrow it from another Library on your behalf. We ask that you plan your research well and give plenty of time for Interlibrary loans to arrive. Please complete the relevant request form below. All correspondence will be sent to your Institute email account only, so please check it regularly.
Please search MultiSearch our online library search engine before making an ILL request.
Please read our Terms and Conditions before proceeding with your request.
Below is a breakdown of the material that you can and cannot request via Interlibrary Loans. The item must be available in a library in Ireland. When requesting books, items that are available in other Institutes of Technology (IOTs) are preferred. You may have up to 5 requests on your account at one time. There is no limit to the number of requests you can make each year (subject to available funds).
However, you should note that you cannot renew ILLs and you should, therefore, take time restrictions into account. For copyright reasons, you may not make duplicate requests for an article which has already been supplied to you. For copyright reasons, the Library cannot supply a number of individuals with the same material for the same purpose at the same time. If multiple copies are required please contact interlibrary.loans@dkit.ie.
In order to speed up each request, the request should be as complete as possible. If you are missing information about the request you may be able to find it by searching the resources below.
A Copyright Declaration Form is a legal document that must accompany any journal article or chapter request. You must also print and sign a Copyright Declaration Form for each journal article/chapter or portion of book request as well as making the request online using the link above. The Copyright Declaration Form should be returned to the Library Desk within 7 days, otherwise, your request will be cancelled. Each academic year, you must also print and sign an Annual End User Statement (AEUS) and return it to the Library Desk. These forms are required for copyright reasons so we won’t process your request until we receive them.
