The Certificate in the Fundamentals of the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence at DkIT provides learners with the knowledge necessary to understand aggression and violence within diverse health and social care contexts.

Provides learners, from all health and social care disciplines and settings, with the opportunity to develop the knowledge necessary to understand aggression and violence within diverse health and social care contexts in order to provide introductory training to other personnel which will assist them to proactively prevent, recognise, assess and safely manage verbal aggression within low risk environments.

This programme takes place over one semester with a combination of in-class (lectures and tutorials) and online delivery. Students will be required to attend lectures on the following days (9am to 5pm), the remainder of the programme will be delivered on-line.

Those graduating from the Certificate in the Fundamentals of the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence will have specific skills and knowledge in the ability to provide introductory training to other personnel which will assist them proactively prevent, recognise, assess and safely manage verbal aggression within low-risk environments.

  1. Application Fee is €50 (Refundable if you are not offered a course place)
  2. Accept Offer Fee is €100 (Non-refundable)
  3. Remainder of Fee of €650 is payable by end of October 2019.

All applicants will normally hold a level 8 qualification (or equivalent) and working within a health & social care environment.
Applicants who do not have a level 8 qualification may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy. Some applicants, who do not have a Level 8 qualification, may be required to complete the DkIT Level 8 Higher and Professional Learning Programme, to gain entry to the programme. Applicants may be interviewed

Applicants must submit letter from their employer in support of their application and agreeing to facilitate the learner’s teaching practice.

Those graduating from the Certificate in the Fundamentals of the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence (10 credits) award option will have specific skills and knowledge in the ability to provide introductory training to other personnel which will assist them proactively prevent, recognise, assess and safely manage verbal aggression within low risk environments.
