Course Summary

The aim of this 1 year level 9 part-time programme is to contribute to building confident recovery-orientated practitioners by equipping learners with the knowledge and skills to apply psychosocial interventions safely, effectively and appropriately with service users and their families/carers within their scope of professional practice.

The Certificate in Psychosocial Interventions for Contemporary Professional Practice is a Level 9 blended learning programme. It consists of two modules:

  • Theoretical Principles Underpinning Psychosocial Interventions
  • Application of Psychosocial Interventions in Professional Practice. 

The programme is facilitated over two semesters.     

Modules taught include

  • Theoretical Principles Underpinning Psychosocial Interventions
  • Application of Psychosocial Interventions in Professional Practice

The course takes place over 2 semesters with a combination of in-class and online delivery.

The aim of this programme is to facilitate nurses/midwives, health and social care professionals, and medical doctors in the development of an appropriate level of knowledge, skill, and attitude in the principles of psychosocial interventions. It is envisaged that this will contribute to building confident recovery orientated practitioners

Applicants may wish to pursue further studies at Level 9 following completion of this programme.

  • Nurses/midwives, medical doctors, and health and social care professionals (HSCPs) who have a primary degree and registered with a recognised professional body appropriate to their field.
  • Currently employed in a professional practice setting in which the utilisation of the course material can contribute to quality care.
  • Currently employed in a professional role with a scope of practice which is congruent with the utilisation of the course material within a clinical practice context.

Applicants who do not have a Level 8 qualification may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy.

This course is designed for Nurses/midwives, medical doctors and health and social care professionals who have a primary degree and registered with a recognised professional body appropriate to their field.
