Course Summary

The Certificate in Professional Management of Aggression & Violence in Health and Social Care Settings at DkIT provides learners with the knowledge necessary to understand aggression and violence within diverse health and social care contexts.

Provides learners, from all health and social care disciplines and settings, with the opportunity to develop the knowledge necessary to understand aggression and violence within diverse health and social care contexts and in order to provide training to others to assist them in preserving their personal safety, while safely and effectively managing a range of manifestations of verbal and physical aggression, and in the safe delivery of personal care.

  • Theoretical Principles of the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence
  • Practical Strategies in the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence.

This programme takes place over two semesters with a combination of in-class (lectures and tutorials) and online delivery.

This programme is suitable for Nurses, Midwives and Health & Social Care Professionals.

All applicants will normally hold a relevant level 8 qualification (or equivalent), be registered with their recognised professional body (if applicable) and be working within a health care or social care setting. Applicants who do not have a level 8 qualification may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy. Applicants may be interviewed.

Those graduating from the Certificate in the Professional Management of Aggression and Violence in Health and Social Care Settings (30 credits) award option will have specific skills and knowledge to provide training to others to assist them in preserving their personal safety while safely and effectively managing a range of manifestations of verbal and physical aggression and in the safe provision of patient care.
