This course is of particular interest to those who may wish to undertake safety officer roles in their companies. This programme will have a strong collaboration with pharmaceutical and food industries and other manufacturing sectors, in the form of guest speakers and site visits and is designed for those working in the manufacturing sector, who would like to study on a part-time basis.

This programme was developed in collaboration with ABP Food Group and is structured to facilitate those working in the Manufacturing Industry who wish to obtain knowledge and skills in health and safety

This is predominately an online course, with two face-to-face days timetabled for each module throughout each semester. Each face-to-face day will be structured to facilitate 2 hours of contact per module each day. 

Graduates from the Certificate in Health and Safety (manufacturing Industry) will have professional skills and knowledge in health and safety that will allow them to manage occupational health and safety risks in their companies.

It will equip with the skills to pursue safety officer roles in their companies. Graduates could also seek further education qualifications in the health and safety field.

The course fee is €1,000. The fee is payable as follows:

  • Application Fee = €50 (Non-refundable if you are made an offer of a course place)
  • Accept Offer Fee = €100 (non-refundable)
  • Instalment 1 of €350 is payable by 31st October 2019
  • Instalment 2 of €500 is payable by 28th February 2020

Applicants should have a minimum qualification at NFQ Level 5 or Leaving Certificate qualification. Applicants who do not have a Level 5 qualification will be considered on prior relevant experience and may be interviewed. Applicants will be expected to have access to a PC/Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection so as to be able to participate in the programme in the manner expected of them.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must have English level of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.  

This Level 6 programme is specifically targeted at general operatives with experience in the manufacturing industry.
