The aim of the programme is to provide the student with the opportunity to extend their understanding of electrical and electronic principles. Students will be exposed to terminology, electrical and electronic devices related to DC and AC circuits. Students will be able to interpret, test and measure basic DC circuits.
An understanding of sensors and their signal conditioning will be obtained using light, heat and strain sensors. A basic introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) will be undertaken. Students will be familiar with hardware used in Local Area Network (LAN) and develop the ability to solve primary level faults in a LAN.

The proposed start dates for the Applied Electrical Engineering Programme is Tuesday 22nd January 2019 at 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Room NW228.
The timetable is as follows:
Tuesday - Sensors - 18:00 - 20:00
(This session is normally online - however students are requested to attend the college on the first date 22nd January 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Room NW228.)
Thursday - Sensors - 18:00 - 19:00 in room NW228
Thursday - Electrical Technology 19:00 - 21:30 (Including 1/2 hour break) in room NW228
Every 2nd Friday (6 in total) Electrical Technology Laboratory 13:00 - 17:30 in room NW228. Schedule as follows:

2 - 15th Feb 2019
3 - 1st March 2019
4 - 15th March 2019
5 - 29th March 2019
6 - 12th April 2019
