Programmable Logic Controllers - Level 2
This 8 week course *follows on* from our PLCs Level 1 course and is designed around industrial maintenance personnel, to help them diagnose and repair faults in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) controlled production equipment.
Important notice about this course
Modern process and manufacturing industries are highly automated and programmable logic controllers are widely used in the control of process parameters to ensure products of a very high quality can be produced safely and efficiently. This course aims to provide the learner with a broad knowledge of automation systems, programming approaches and industrial control applications. See course content for topics included.
Students will cover the following topics:
- Number Systems
- Data types
- Variables and Constants
- Function Block Programmin
- Analog Inputs/ Outputs (4-20mA/ 0-10V)
- Interfacing to a Variable Speed Drive
One class of two and a half hours per week for 8 weeks.
There are no formal entry requirements but electrical experience and basic computing skills will be necessary. Applicants should have completed our PLCs Level 1 course.
This course is designed for people in employment (or seeking employment) in the manufacturing or services sector who are seeking to expand their understanding of PLC controlled systems beyond an Introductory level and develop their skills to fault find on industrial production equipment.
The course is designed to give personnel the ability to diagnose industrial faults and to carry out repairs/replacement safely. The learner will typically have some mechanical or electrical skills or have relevant industrial experience. In essence, knowledge of PLC control is essential for anyone working with automated systems, whether in the production, the environmental or service sectors.
