Certificate in Building Energy Management
This 12-week course will provide learners with a solid understanding of low energy building design and management with a view to enhancing career development in this area.

The course will focus on Sustainable Energy and Energy Technology
The knowledge, skills and competencies that participants will gain are relevant to their career development. The treatment of all course subjects will encourage the development of intellectual skills of analysis, synthesis, critique and communication. This will be achieved by building upon both prior learning and experience of participants to develop a broader understanding of low energy building design and management.
The course is made up of 2 modules:
- Energy Technology (7.5 credits)
- Passive and Low Energy Design (7.5 credits)
The course is delivered in one four hour class, one evening per week for ONE semester.
Course will commence with Induction on on Tuesday 17th September @ 5.30pm.
Participants of this course may use this qualification to progress their career in the following areas:

- Property Manager
- Energy Auditing & Assessment
To be eligible for entry to the course, prospective candidates must have obtained ONE of the following:
Five passes in the Leaving Certificate including Mathematics and either Irish or English.
Pass grade in the LCVP
Full Level 5 or 6 FET Award
Applicants with equivalent qualifications and/or relevant minimum 5 years work experience in the case of mature student applications (i.e. over 23 years of age).
Applicants MUST have a trade background or be a professional working within the property industry.
This course has been designed to facilitate professionals practicing in the areas of building design, management and technology. Its purpose is to provide expertise in terms of; energy use, environmental performance and sustainability in the design and operation of buildings and their associated facilities and services systems.
