This 7-week course provides learners with a solid introduction in the use of digital cameras. Whether you are a complete beginner or a budding photographer in the making, this course will be useful as it covers fundamentals such as creative and technical aspects of photography through the use of lighting, composition, and depth of field.

This course provides a practical introduction in the use of digital cameras. It will cover the creative and technical aspects of photography through the use of lighting, composition, and depth of field. You will find out how these elements affect your final image. You will also learn how the basic buttons and dials on most cameras function and how to use them; You will explore composition techniques, such as "framing “and the "rule of thirds" and how these can be applied to any camera from an advanced SLR to a simple, but effective, "point and shoot" camera.
This course will teach you how to appreciate the fundamentals of digital photography but also how to use these acquired skills to put together photographic stories that go beyond the individual still image.
Students on this course will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to the Digital World! How it all works for you.
- Shutter speeds and f-stops. Taking the mystery out of camera settings.
- Camera modes and settings… making sense of it all.
- The wonder of window light.
- All about composing a beautiful image.
- Flash photography made simple.
- Depth of field and motion blur… its all in the settings.
- No more Red Eye.
- Putting it all together… and emailing it to friends!
7 Weeks made up of 6 * 2 hour classes and 1* final double class of 4 hours.
Please note that the final class will take place in the lecturer’s studio near Carrickmacross.
The fees for this course are €150.00.

This course will be of interest to anyone with a desire to learn more about composition and technical aspects of digital photography. You will be presented with a very informative class in a relaxed and fun style. You will walk away seeing the world in a different light and be able to take images in all lighting situations. Participants must have their own digital cameras.
