This course is aimed at enhancing learners’ understanding of strategy and business planning in practice. It comprises two modules – ‘New Venture Finance’ & ‘Applied Strategic Management’.

The course aims to provide learners with the relevant skills and abilities to critically compare business models and diagnose key strategic issues for various industries; develop a strategy and an in-depth financial plan for a proposed project (including a risk assessment), and strategically communicate this plan to relevant stakeholders.

The Strategy Module is run as a one-week intensive session in collaboration with Heilbronn University, Germany and the students participate in an advanced business simulation. There are normally some follow up assignments the students have to complete as well. For 2018 the residential module will take place during the 1st week of November in Dromantine (8 miles north of Newry, Co. Down).

This course comprises two modules:

  • New Venture Finance
  • Applied Strategic Management

This is a day-time delivered course running over one year, with attendance required on one day per week plus a one week residential. On alternate years, the residential is held abroad (in Germany).

On completion of this course learners will have a greater understanding of their own strengths as well as those of their colleagues; they will become empowered to use enhanced strategic business planning concepts and theories, develop plans and devote time to strategic planning in the future.

Applicants should typically have a degree level qualification (at Level 8) (or equivalent) in a business related discipline, OR a sufficient academic record along with a minimum of 3 years industry or management experience.
