COURSE CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS

Closing date for applications: Friday 10th September OR until places are full.

This is a part-time minor award that will cover the principles of evidence-based veterinary care, leadership, and clinical governance.  The aim is to equip veterinary professionals with the skills to provide optimal care based on current scientific evidence and to reduce errors, leading to improved patient outcomes.  It is established practice for more experienced veterinary nurses to mentor students and newly qualified nurses and a recent research study conducted at DkIT and UCD indicated a lack of training amongst RVNs in this area, despite the frequency with which they assume leadership and mentoring roles within the practice team. Learners will critically evaluate the nature and role of effective leadership in a veterinary practice and will facilitate the development of skills and knowledge in leadership and mentoring.

This is a 15-credit minor award comprising 2 modules:

  • Semester 1: Clinical Governance and Evidence-Based Veterinary Care (10 credits)

  • Semester 2: Veterinary Leadership (5 credits)
