DkIT Email on your Handheld Device

Ideally, you should install and use the official Outlook app for your device eg. Microsoft Outlook for Android. Then you simply select "Exchange" and enter your DkIT Student Email Address.

Below is a general guide to accessing your Office 365 email account on mobile devices using Exchange ActiveSync and the native email client. Different models and operating systems may vary slightly, but you'll still need to enter the same details. If you are still encountering issues after follwoing the below steps please contact the IT Helpdesk.

Before you begin, you must be connected to the Internet.

Windows Mobile

  1. Scroll down to the Settings option from the main apps list.
  2. Select Email and accounts.
  3. Select Add an account.
  4. Select Outlook (Exchange and Outlook Web App).
  5. Enter your DkIT email address e.g. [email protected] and your DkIT account password.
  6. Select Sign in.
  7. This will fail and you'll be asked to check your information and try again. Leave the Domain blank and select Sign in again.
  8. Select advanced.
  9. Make sure your username is your full email address including @student.dkit.ie.
  10. Enter the Server name: outlook.office365.com.
  11. Make sure SSL encryption is turned on.
  12. Choose Sign in again.
  13. Your account is now created and you'll see an Outlook link on your home screen.

iPhone / iPad / iPod

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Choose the option Mail, contacts & calendars.
  3. Under accounts section, choose Add Account.
  4. Choose the Microsoft Exchange option.
  5. Complete the following fields:
  • E-mail - your DkIT email address [email protected]
  • Domain - leave blank
  • Username - Your full email address including @student.dkit.ie
  • Password - Your DkIT account password
  • Description - Can be anything you like such as Office 365 Account

6. Click Next.
7. If it says "Cannot verify server identity. Would you like to continue anyway?" reply "Continue". This may happen more than once.
8. At some point an extra field will appear, labelled Server. In this field you need to enter outlook.office365.com.and click Next.
9. After more verifying, you will be asked to choose the data you wish to sychronise with your mobile device. Then select Save.

Android - HTC

  1. Go to Menu > Settings.
  2. Select Accounts and sync
  3. Select Add account
  4. Choose Exchange Activesync.
  5. Choose Manual Setup.
  6. Complete the following fields
  • Your DkIT email address - e.g. [email protected]
  • Server Address - outlook.office365.com.
  • Domain - Leave blank
  • Username - Your full email address including @student.dkit.ie
  • Password - Your DkIT account password

7. Make sure SSL encryption is turned on.
8. Select Next
9. Select the data you wish to Synchronise from the server.
10. Select Finish Setup

Android - non-HTC

  1. Go to Menu > Email
  2. If you've already got an account,
  • go to Menu > Accounts
  • go to Menu > Add Account

3. Enter your DkIT email address - e.g. [email protected]
4. Enter your password - Your DkIT account password
5. Choose Manual setup
6. Enter the following details:

  • Domain\Username - Your full email address including @student.dkit.ie
  • Password - Your DkIT account password
  • Server - outlook.office365.com
  • Make sure SSL encryption is turned on.
  1. Select Next
  2. Select the data you wish to Synchronise from the server.
  3. Select Finish Setup

Blackberry Curve

  1. Go to Setup > Email Settings
  2. Select Add in Email Accounts
  3. In Email Setup select Other then Next
  4. Enter your DkIT email address - e.g. [email protected]
  5. Enter your password - Your DkIT account password then select Next
  6. Select I will provide the settings and Next
  7. Select POP/IMAP and Next
  8. Make sure your email address and password are displayed then scroll down
  9. Enter the Email server:  outlook.office365.com.
  10. The User name is the same as your email address
  11. Select Next, and you should see an Account Setup Confirmation screen
