INFER project

INFER - Remote Sensing of Irish Surface Waters

INFER is a 3 year project funded by the Environmental Protection Agency to develop software infrastructure to support the monitoring of water quality of Irish surface waters using remote sensing data gathered by the EU's Copernicus and NASA's Landsat earth observation programmes. Of critical importance to this project's success is the development of algorithms validated by extensive ground truthing at several lake and coastal sites on the island of Ireland. The INFER team involves scientists from NUI Galway, Dundalk Institute of Technology and the expertise of the Irish Centre for High End Computing (ICHEC)
