Far more abundant than their cousins, the big lakes, ponds have been underappreciated in scientific studies. As part of the BEYOND2020 project ponds are being studied and the collected data included in international collaborations through the GLEON network.

During the summer 2019 Ph.D. student Maria Caldero Pascual and postdoctoral researcher Mikkel René Andersen joined an international team at the AQUACOSM site at the Middle East Technical University (METU) of Ankara to study the impact of CDOM pulses in lakes.
