RTÉ
The Department is delighted to have a partnership with the national broadcaster of Ireland, RTÉ. We regularly liaise with representatives of RTÉ to ensure that our programmes are in line with industry needs and students have availed of opportunities to visit the studios in Donnybrook. The Department worked closely with RTÉ on the hosting of CIRCOM conference in May 2015 in Dundalk.
Music Generation Louth
Music Generation Louth is a music education service that provides a range of opportunities throughout the county for children and young people to learn music. It is part of Music Generation – Ireland’s National Music Education Programme, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships. The Department is delighted to host classes, workshops and performances by Music Generation Louth in our facilities in the Carroll Building.
Blackmagic Design
The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music are an official Training Partner with Blackmagic Design. Blackmagic Design creates the world’s highest quality video editing products, digital film cameras, color correctors, video converters, video monitoring, routers, live production switchers, disk recorders, waveform monitors and real time film scanners for the feature film, post production and television broadcast industries. Blackmagic Design’s DeckLink capture cards launched a revolution in quality and affordability in post production, while the company’s Emmy™ award winning DaVinci color correction products have dominated the television and film industry since 1984.
The Department is delighted to offer our students training in all aspects of Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve industry standard post production software by Lecturers who are Blackmagic Certified Trainers.
Creative Spark
Creative Spark, a Company Limited by Guarantee, operates as a not-for-profit social enterprise which aims to develop the local creative industries sector and support new and established innovative enterprises. Launched in October 2012 it provides dedicated creative training and workspace facilities for new and established enterprises in County Louth – a place to work and a place to learn. Creative Spark was conceived with a clear focus on the development of the creative and innovative enterprise sector in this region and the use of creative practice to promote social engagement.
In 2018 DkIT and Creative Spark signed a memorandum of understanding. The MOU outlines a three-year framework for strategic partnership by setting out areas that both organisations have agreed to explore, with a view to implementation. Areas of exploration include increased collaboration around the Creative Spark FabLab project, shared training supports and facilities, potential combined-funding opportunities and the organisation of joint conferences in the region. This MOU provides a unique opportunity for both DkIT and Creative Spark to work collaboratively on improving meaningful and practical community involvement in both organisations by the creation and delivery of programmes to Dundalk and the region that go beyond the current offerings by both entities.
Wwise Licensed School
The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music became an official Wwise Licensed School in 2021. DkIT is registered with Audiokinetic to teach Wwise, and follow Wwise Certification learning material. Unleash your potential as an audio programmer or sound designer by learning the most reputable audio software, Wwise, Wwise is accessible, enjoyable and provides a rewarding head start towards a prosperous interactive audio career.
Avid Learning Partner
Avid Technology is a multimedia company that specialises in video and audio editing software. Avid products include Media Composer, its flagship non-linear editing system, and Pro Tools, its digital audio work station. Avid has received prestigious awards including two Oscars, a Grammy and 16 Emmys.
The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music is an established Avid Learning Partner (ALP) with Lecturers who are Avid Certified in both Media Composer and Pro Tools.
The Avid Learning Partner (ALP) programme is designed to provide that students receive quality training on Avid products such as Media Composer and Pro Tools. DkIT has been chosen by Avid to provide the appropriate training environment to deliver the authorized training content and provide expert tuition. The Avid Learning Partnership adds value to the Department’s academic programs by incorporating Avid’s authorized content for students wanting to enter the media industry.
