International Year of The Nurse and Midwife

DkIT has organised a year-long calendar of events to celebrate the Celebrate the WHO 2020 International Year of The Nurse and Midwife to highlight the vital role of nurses and midwifes in society today.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, in honour of the bicentenary of the birth of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

In 2019, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General said,

Nurses and midwives are the backbone of every health system: in 2020 we’re calling on all countries to invest in nurses and midwives as part of their commitment to health for all.

DkIT is deeply committed to this concept and to celebrate this initiative, the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Early Years has organised a year-long calendar of events to highlight the vital role of nurses and midwives in the world today.
