The Centre for Renewable Energy (CREDIT) was founded in 2002; its mission is, "to assist Ireland’s transition to a renewable energy-based economy". CREDIT is primarily concerned with applied research and industrially viable research activities. This has meant that there is an open attitude to industry needs, and applied research projects have been the most prominent activity of the Centre.
